Sustain – The final step of 5S is certainly the most challenging: remaining disciplined enough to sustain the positive changes made in the first three steps. It is critical that the new system be maintained or the efforts and costs put into developing the new system will be pointless. By putting a formal system in place that includes regular training and communication, employees will be able to comfortably conform to the company’s 5S procedures.

습관화 - 5S 의 마지막 단계이자 가장 도전적인 단계이다. 처음 세 단계에서 이루어진 긍정적인 변화를 지속할 수 있을 만큼 충분히 훈련된 상태를 유지하는 것이다. 새로운 시스템을 유지하거나 새로운 시스템을 개발하는데 드는 노력과 비용이 무의미할 것이라는 것은 매우 중요하다. 정기적인 교육과 커뮤니케이션을 포함하는 공식적인 시스템을 마련함으로써, 직원들은 회사의 5S 절차에 편안하게 순응할 수 있게 될 것이다.

We have same workshop and situation almost.
In order to have incredible and wonderful working place, I think, all of our process and working must be visualized.
All of visualization is from advanced 5S and 5S is combined together in a small piece of activity and effort of 5S.

Of course, we can adopt Lean, SixSigma or other concept(Operational Excellence) to improve workshop without 5S but we'll be faced on limitation of improvement and it so difficult to make improvement culture(sustain) in the workshop.
And also, if 5S is not applied properly, we must input more energy and manpower for Lean or other activity, and it's in violation of Lean. Because the Goal of Lean manufacturing is Reduction of wastage.

5~10min per a day, 1hour per a week and one day per a month, Everything is OK but important thing is Please do not stop your progress and invest your time more frequently.
